Currently, in Regensburg, the in-depth study of pedagogy in mental retardation (90 LP) is possible in combination with pedagogy in behavioral disorders (30 LP) or pedagogy in special education focus on learning (30 LP). The qualification study pedagogy in intellectual disability (30 LP) can currently be studied in combination with pedagogy in behavioral disorders (90 LP) or pedagogy in special education focus learning (90 LP).
In addition, the program is supplemented by the study of educational science and the study in the subject of didactics of elementary school or didactics of a subject group of middle school. For more information, please see the lists of combination options.
The study program can be supplemented by an extension (among others German as a second language, media pedagogy).
It is recommended to complete the orientation internship before beginning the study program.
Furthermore, Special and Inclusive Education can be studied as a so-called extension subject (LPO I).
The subject focuses on the education of children and adolescents with learning difficulties in different school settings. In this context, pedagogical, didactical, sociological and psychological issues are dealt with and related to each other.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are able to deal with special education requirements and issues in a methodical, subject-specific and application-competent manner. They have specialized knowledge and skills with regard to application and implementation in concrete pedagogical situations, including practical teaching competence.
