Professor Stephan Bone-Winkel is Managing Partner of ceos Investment GmbH, an independent, Berlin-based investment company. ceos invests in real estate companies and private equity, promotes digitalisation, participates in entrepreneurial and social projects and promotes interdisciplinary research and teaching in the field of real estate economics.

Stephan Bone-Winkel is also founder and Member of the Supervisory Board of BEOS AG, the leading developer and investment manager of corporate real estate in Germany with over 200 employees and EUR 3.65 billion assets under management.

He studied Business Administration at the University of Cologne and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Paris. After his studies, he initially developed retail real estate for his family, before becoming a research associate of Karl-Werner Schulte at the European Business School (EBS) in 1990, where he graduated from the school’s first Real Estate programme. From 1993 to 1995, he was responsible for estab-lishing the EBS Real Estate Academy in Berlin; from 1995 to 1997, he was a property developer for a commercial bank in Berlin; at the end of 1997, together with two partners, he founded BEOS, which he sold to the Swiss Life Group in 2018.

In 2003, he was appointed to the European Business School and took over the Endowed Chair of Real Estate Project Development. In 2006, he became Honorary Professor for Real Estate Development at the University of Regensburg (IREBS). He has written and edited a host of publications on the subjects of real estate development and investment.

Stephan Bone-Winkel is a founding member of both the German Society for Property Researchers and immoebs e.V. He is also co-editor of the Journal of Real Estate Re-search and “Schriften zu Immobilienökonomie und Immobilienrecht”. He is an active member of numerous committees and associations, including the ZIA German Property Federation’s Scientific Advisory Board, the Executive Committee of ULI Germany and the Advisory Board of EXPO REAL.

In 2014, he received the ULI Leadership Award in the Real Estate category. He was recognised as one of the “Leading Minds of the Real Estate Industry” by Immobilien Manager magazine in 2015. In 2019 he was appointed a Global Governing Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, Washington D.C.
