If you study in Regensburg, you need accommodation. While many countries/cities offer on-campus accommodation for all students, in Regensburg you will have to take care about your accommodation off-campus by yourself. There are several opportunities for you:
You can find rooms and shared apartments on the notice boards (in the cafeterias and faculties), newspapers or online (e.g. facebook groups).
There are several dormitories in Regensurg. They are owned either by the Studentenwerk or by private landlords.

Depending on your arrival you might not be able to move into your apartment right away. If you need to wait a couple of days, we recommend to stay at a hotel or a youth hostel. Apartments are the best solution for stays of one month and longer. You will find more information on the website of Regensburgs Tourist Information.

The international office can reserve a room in one of Regensburg's dormitories, in case you applied for one in your online application.
Some dormitories offer a fixed number of rooms for exchange students only. Since the International Office needs to pay the rent for the whole year, we ask you to pay a non-refundable reservation fee. You will find further information on the website for exchange students.

Although Regensburg has many student residences and private accommodation opportunities, it is always difficult to find an inexpensive accommodation.
The UR cannot guarantee you to get a room in a student residences through their capacity. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to show initiative and look for a room on your own.
The International Office can support with a lists of useful addresses where to look for accommodation.
Students who are interested in renting a room in student residences of the Studentenwerk Niederbayern/Oberpfalz need to contact the Studentenwerk directly.

Accommodation in a dormitory room is not an option, if there is no room available. There is no entitlement on a dormitoy room!
In case of any questions ask the IO (international.accommodation@ur.de) or your supervisor in Regensburg.
The Welcome Center can actively search for accommodation on your behalf if you are staying longer than 1 month. If you are staying one month or less, you are responsible for booking your own accommodation. You will find usefull link at the top of this page.
