Welcome to the group for epitaxial nanostructures. Nanometer sized solid-state structures are fascinating objects giving access to the quantum world. We build model nanosystems based on the tailoring of silicon-germanium, arsenide and antimonide semiconductor heterostructures down to atomic-layer precision in molecular beam epitaxy. Our model systems are designed to enable a control of charge carriers, spins or photons, in order to study their unique properties as well as their interactions on the quantum level.
