Laboratory for Translational perinatology
Despite emerging insights into the workings of successful reproduction, infertility and poor reproductive success continue to affect a large number of women, with important psychological and economic consequences. In our laboratory we investigate immune mechanisms influenced by the endocrine and metabolic environment in female individuals to find solutions to reproductive problems. Immune system responses influence virtually all phases of the reproductive process and have substantial potential to address specific gaps in our knowledge of the regulation of luteal failure in early pregnancy loss, aspects of vascular dysfunction at the feto-maternal interface, and fetal programming of postnatal health, which we adress in our research.
