Personal Background

Tabea Bauermeister studied law as well as Governance and Public Policy with a major in Economics in Passau and Marid. In 2014, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Governance and Public Policy. In 2016, she passed the German First Examination in Law (“Erste Juristische Prüfung”).
Subsequently, Tabea Bauermeister worked as a research and teaching assistant for Prof. Dr. Dörte Poelzig, first at the University of Passau and later at the University of Leipzig. During this period, she wrote her doctoral thesis “Gesamtschuld und Regress in der Schadensersatzrichtlinie” (Joint and several liability as well as regress in the Damages Directive) covering both civil law and competition law.
From 2018 to 2020, Tabea Bauermeister completed her legal traineeship (“Rechtsreferendariat”) in Munich, Passau and Bonn, including postings at the German Federal Cartel Office (“Bundeskartellamt”) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. During this time, she also worked as a research and teaching assistant for Prof. Dr. Markus Würdinger at the University of Passau. In 2020, she passed the Second State Examination in Law (“Zweite Juristische Prüfung”).
Tabea Bauermeister then first returned to the University of Leipzig, and thereafter took up a position as senior research associate (“Akademische Rätin”) at the University of Hamburg in 2021. Since April 2023, she has held the tenure track position of assistant professor for Civil Law and Law of the Algorithm-Based Economy at the University of Regensburg.
Her research focuses on German, European and international private and commercial law. In particular, she addresses the influences of European law on national law, questions of public and private law enforcement, and the challenges of digitalization. Her current research projects are devoted to Sec. 327 et seq. BGB (German Civil Code) as well as the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act.
