Chair of Latin Philology

Salvete, sodales!

WElcome to our website

and to our charming campus of grey brick and concrete. But don't be scared off! Our university is full of color and life - thanks to our friendly staff, all the green space that surrounds it and its location on the edge of Regensburg's marvelous historic Old Town. The city's history reaches back to Roman times with influences of the classical world and Greaco-Roman antiquity in the surrounding area (Roman auxiliary forts since the Flavian Dynasty, legion camp Castra Regina under the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and the memorial Walhalla).

'Italy's most northern City' was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006. Walking down the narrow alley ways that wind their way through the protected Old Town of Regensburg with its famous Old Stone Bridge one can feel the Italian flair.
