Norbert Thom is professor emeritus for Business Administration at the University of Bern.
His special field is organization and human resource management. Earlier in his academic career he was researching and teaching full time at the universities of Fribourg (Switzerland), Giessen and Cologne (both in Germany). Norbert Thom was visiting professor in Basel (Switzerland), Linz (Austria) and Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
In Bern he was founder (1991) and director (until 2012) of the Institute of Organization and Personnel Management (IOP). In addition he acted as co-founder (2002) of the Competence Center of Public Administration where he is now Senior Fellow. Norbert Thom was active member in several scientific associations for management and organization, human resource management, innovation and idea management and administrative science.
Norbert Thom researched in the last four decades in diverse fields (see his list of publications at: www.iop.unibe.ch and scholar.google.com) of business administration. Actually he is concentrating on monographs and papers in journals and books with the following topics: evaluation and selection of organizational structures, public management, human resource management. He is publishing in German, English and French. All together his publications were translated into 22 languages.
