The Central Biobank of the University of Regensburg (ZBR) is a voluntary organisational association of quality-assured biobanks in Regensburg with the aim of a common organisation and common, coordinated procedures. It is sponsored by the University of Regensburg, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Regensburg and the University Hospital Regensburg. Since April 2019, the Central Biobank Regensburg has been a partner in the German Biobank Alliance.
Membership of the Central Biobank Regensburg is decided by the Board of the Central Biobank Regensburg upon written application. Prerequisites are the existence or planning of a human biomaterial collection, acceptance of the rules of procedure and implementation of the regulations and structure of the Central Biobank Regensburg.
This includes in particular the use of standardised declarations of consent, the use of standardised patient information, compliance with privacy regulations and adherence to the ethics and privacy concept, including the information and data processing processes defined.
