Doctorate in Human Sciences (Dr. sc. hum.)

The structured doctoral programme Dr. sc. hum. offers young scientists training based on the latest research and teaching in a wide range of topics in the medical human sciences. In addition to three years of research work, they complete a structured doctoral programme consisting of compulsory and elective courses.

The structured doctoral programme Dr. sc. hum. is aimed at graduates of various Master's degree programmes. Acceptance to the doctoral programme requires, among other things, that the subject area of the doctoral project comes from a field related to medicine and is represented at the Faculty of Medicine.
Medicine-related fields include, for example:

  • Applied engineering sciences and exact natural sciences with a reference to medicine
  • Health sciences, including health services research and health economics
  • Psychosocial medicine
  • Neurosciences
  • Medical informatics, biostatistics
  • Theoretical medicine

Depending on the focus of the subject area, supervision can also take place outside the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Regensburg, for example through a cooperative doctorate with the OTH Regensburg.

A selection of examples of topics that have been worked on by doctoral students include:

  • Oncological health services research
  • Tinnitus therapy
  • Rehabilitation processes
  • Health behaviour
  • Development of haptic training systems for patients
