Teaching at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

The department is responsible for teaching in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. This is integrated into the psychology module "Psychiatry and Psychotherapy" and into the main lecture on child and adolescent medicine in the elective course in human medicine. It is also possible to take the elective subject of child and adolescent psychiatry. The practical training of students in our specialist field is of particular importance to us.

In addition to the main lecture "Introduction to the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy", various seminars are held on topics such as suicidal behavior or the treatment of anorexia nervosa in children and adolescents. In addition, numerous seminars are offered by the departments' academic staff. These provide an insight into diagnostic methods, therapeutic approaches and disorders in childhood and adolescence, such as the autism spectrum condition and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. There are also seminars on deviant and delinquent behavior in childhood and adolescence from the perspective of criminal psychological research and on psychotic and schizophrenic disorders. Colloquia are also offered to support and promote practical, statistical evaluation skills for final theses and doctoral dissertations in psychology and medicine as well as for current publication projects in child and adolescent psychiatry.

We also provide additional courses on child and adolescent psychiatry at the East Bavarian Technical University (OTH) for the teacher training course in special education. Furthermore, the main lecture and seminars are accessible for students of psychology, educational science, criminology and violence research at the University of Regensburg, in addition to medical students. The department is also involved in teaching the M. Sc. Biology module "Cognitive and Translational Neuroscience" at the University of Regensburg.
