Sunday, May 01, 2022, 08:00 o'clock - Thursday, May 01, 2025, 08:00 o'clock

We are pleased to introduce Sebastian Steindl, our newest PhD student.

In his PhD project, Sebastian explores data augmentation methods and synthetic training data for chatbots, investigating how training data for chatbots can be generated artificially and how useful synthetic data are for training chatbots.
His PhD work is supervised by Ulrich Schäfer (Amberg-Weiden University of Applied Sciences) and Bernd Ludwig (Information Science Regensburg).

Sebastian sent us a few words to help you to get to know him better:

Hi, my name is Sebastian, and I am a cooperative PhD student under Bernd's supervision. My research focuses on synthetic data for chatbots. This can make them more accessible for those who cannot afford to buy tons of training data. In my spare time, you may find me on the badminton court or enjoying the beautiful city of Regensburg!

You can't wait to dive into Sebastian's research results? Have a look at his latest paper:
"Counterfactual Dialog Mixing as Data Augmentation for Task-Oriented Dialog Systems" by Sebastian Steindl, Ulrich Schäfer, and Bernd Ludwig, accepted at LREC-COLING 2024
