Innovation in Teaching Award

  • established new principles and areas of emphasis for curriculum design?

Then you’re a perfect candidate for UR’s Innovation in Teaching Award!

The University of Regensburg is introducing three new awards this year for innovation in curriculum design, course design, and assessment methods. This award celebrates the significance of inventive and high quality practices in university teaching. Eligibility for consideration extends to projects completed in Summer 2023, Winter 23/24, and Summer 2024.

The award comes with the following prize money:

  • Curriculum design: 3,000 Euro
  • Course design: 2,000 Euro
  • Assessment methods: 2,000 Euro

Who is eligible for the Innovation in Teaching Award?

  • Full-time lecturers and research assistants with teaching duties at the University of Regensburg who have been teaching there for two semesters or more
  • Research groups
  • Institutional sectors in charge of managing courses, assessments and curriculum design (departments, institutes, chairs, etc.)

How to apply

Please submit the following:

As part of your application, please provide a PDF document (max. 5 pages) that outlines your innovative approach to curriculum design, courses, or assessments. You may attach images, videos, a website, evaluation results or anything else that illustrates the inventive nature of your methods. Videos can be linked (for example, a multimedia center or YouTube).

Your outline should address the following questions:

  • What innovative approaches did you implement and why?
  • What makes these approaches innovative?
  • What were some challenges you encountered?
  • Did you collaborate with anyone?
  • Did they help you overcome these challenges?

Please submit your application by July 7, 2024, by emailing zhw@ur.de with your documents.

Would you like to submit a nomination on behalf of someone else?

If you would like to submit a candidate, please e-mail zhw@ur.de with the candidate's name, email address, category (course design, assessment method, curriculum design), department, and course or program title by June 13, 2024.

Jury

Members of the jury include Deans of Students, Vice President for Student Affairs Professor Korber, non-professional teaching staff representation and student representation.

Selection and ceremony

Candidates will be informed of their selection status in mid-August.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Digital Teaching Day, September 24, 2024, at 12 pm. Please be sure to clear your schedule for this event. The conference will showcase winning innovative approaches as part of its program.
