Open position

The department of Biochemistry (RNA Biology) is currently seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in biochemistry and/or structural biology.

Our research focuses on the function of non-coding RNAs and RNA modifications in gene regulation. We use biochemical, molecular biological as well as structural approaches to dissect such regulatory processes in molecular detail. The project addresses structure-function analyses of human RNA-modifying methyltransferases and associated proteins. The project is a close collaboration with The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York, USA and it is planned to perform experiments at both locations.

The successful candidate will build on profound preliminary work in our lab. Biochemical purification strategies from different systems are established and isolated proteins and protein complexes will be analyzed in close collaboration with the lab of Prof. Dr. Dinshaw Patel, MSKCC, New York.

We offer a state-of-the-art lab with a long-standing experience and interest in the function of non-coding RNAs and other post-transcriptional gene regulation pathways. Funding is available for all additional necessary infrastructure.

Please send your application (including two letters of recommendation) to gunter.meister@ur.de
