Semester and Lecture Periods

The academic year at the University of Regensburg consists of two semesters, the winter semester and the summer semester.
The winter semester begins on October 1 and ends on March 31.
The summer semester lasts from April 1 to September 30.

In each semester there is a lecture period and a period that ist free of lectures. During the lecture period, classes are held. The beginning and end of this period vary from year to year. The lecture-free period is usually used for internships, for self-study, for writing seminar papers, for exam preparation, and in some cases for the exams. Block seminars are also frequently offered during the lecture-free period.

Lecture Period: October 13, 2025 to February 6, 2026

Summer Semester 2026

Lecture Period: April 13, 2026 to July 17, 2026

Winter Semester 2026/27

Lecture Period: October 12, 2026 to February 5, 2027

Summer Semester 2027

Lecture Period: April 12, 2027 to July 26, 2027

Winter Semester 2027/28

Lecture Period: October 18, 2027 to February 11, 2028
