How long have you been working here at the CTL? What are some of the things you enjoy most about your work?
I’ve been working here since 2013, and one thing I love about my work is the flexibility and independence that it affords me, because both of those aspects give me a certain sense of freedom. Plus, my co-workers are great, and I really enjoy getting to work with the people who participate in our seminars, projects, etc. We – the CTL team – tackle any new challenges together as a unit and each member contributes their own strengths, which is really motivating! I also really enjoy collaborating with instructors on fine-tuning their teaching and I’m generally very happy with the results we manage to achieve.
What are some of your research interests?
I’m really interested in self-regulated learning, particularly in designing digital self-regulated learning strategies, and fostering student motivation for learning. Other research interests of mine include feedback and formative assessment in teaching as well as student evaluation as a means of qualitative course evaluation.
What are three words your co-workers would use to describe you?
Organized, charming, open
On a scale of 1/10, how messy or neat are you?
I am very neat, but not to a compulsive degree – so I’d give myself an at least an 8 or 9. But it’s true that being neat and organized is very important to me. I love it when there’s a system behind things.
Do you play any instruments? If not, which one would you like to learn to play?
Unfortunately, I don’t really know how to play any instrument, but I’d love to be able to play the piano.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what are the three things you would immediately purchase? How do you think your life would change?
I don’t think it would make much of a difference, except I’d probably go on vacation more often and to more distant destinations. But I’d definitely buy something nice for my husband and my family. And I might buy myself a horse and a piano – since I already know how to ride horseback, I’d just need piano lessons.
